I wanted to write a Spanish translation that would do justice to
this classic, but I realized that it was more appropriate to
“adapt” the song to Mexico City, rather than literally translating
it. We don't have the Corcovado mountain as Rio does but we
have the privilege of having Popcatepetl and Iztacciuhuatl
looking over us. These two lovers had their own “Quiet nights
of quiet stars'', and I hoped to tell their story.
I recorded this song with Soundtrap over quarantine with a
couple of friends from my school. We wanted to adapt the
music to a lofi bolero that would evoke feelings of happiness,
warmth and romance.
